Workshop overview
This workshop was designed to explore both the intended and creative, unintended use of 3D printers. Participants gained hands-on experience with 3D object design, programming, and the artistic transformation of technology. The workshop was divided into two parts and an opening to exhibit and show the results of the workshop that were held at the end of the workshop. On the closing day Basti performed live using audio outputs via the 3d printer with the help of a python script and contact microphones.

Artist bio

My name is Basti Kuhz, I am a music fascinated technology artist originally from Germany.
I believe in the unifying power of electronic arts. With a Dipl.-Ing. degree in Mechanical
Engineering, I have worked as a product developer and validation expert in healthcare since 2014, with a particular focus on integrating 3D printing.

Since 2022, I have developed installations and performances combining 3D printing with music using self-developed software scripts. I have been exhibiting at platforms projects in Athens yearly since 2022. In 2023, I was accepted for the GRIN S+T+ARTS residency at the Oulu University of Applied Sciences. There, I continued using Python programming to use my 3D printers intentionally and unintentionally. Furthermore, I developed workshops, combining several technologies to co-create technolgy.
